The Consulate.

Consular divisions of Slovak diplomatic missions abroad provide consular services within the meaning of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. These services include assistance for citizens of the Slovak Republic abroad who find themselves in distress, assistance in arranging matters concerning inheritance abroad, assistance in transporting mortal remains and in the event of the death of Slovak citizens abroad, and solving problems related to the criminal activities of Slovak citizens in foreign countries.

The possibilities open to consular departments to influence the activities of the police and judicial bodies concerning the results of the conduct of Slovak citizens abroad, or problems experienced by Slovak tourists due to a lack of preparation on their foreign trips, are limited. The powers of consulates are defined by international law, the internal legal arrangement of the Slovak Republic, and the internal legal arrangement of the country in question.
